As a Pharmacist who specializes in nutritional supplements, one of the most common questions I hear from people is “I eat a pretty healthy diet. Do I really need to take supplements?”
My answer is always a resounding, “YES!”
Nutritional supplements are an essential way to get a broad spectrum of vitamins, minerals, herbs, and phytonutrients that you need every day. The best way to ensure that your body receives all the nutrients it requires is by taking quality nutritional supplements each day. You might be surprised to learn that many people who eat a good diet don’t get all the nutrients they need from their food alone.

Essential minerals present in organic produce fall short of what you need to optimize your health. The amount of nutrients in our fruits and vegetables has declined rapidly in just fifty to seventy years. This is because we’re growing our produce on depleted soil. These include essential minerals like magnesium, chromium and selenium, as well as vitamins A, C and E. In addition, we have lost much of the fiber in our diet, making it harder for our bodies to digest all the food we eat.
The average American diet is lacking in the foods that provide important vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Your body requires vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids and amino acids to function properly, but there are many factors that can prevent us from getting enough nutrients in our diets — including poor soil quality, increased stress levels and inadequate cooking practices (which destroy some nutrients). As a result, many people suffer from nutritional deficiencies, which can lead to numerous health problems over time.
